AESPA ‘SAVAGE’ THE 1ST MINI ALBUM REVIEW

I have really enjoyed their comebacks this year. I am happy to hear 6 new songs on their latest release. They have become one of my favorite gg’s this year, along with ITZY. I like to discuss my thoughts on their latest release.

1.Aenery-Love the drum/bass sound in the production. Gives it a nice rhythmic sound. The vocals are pretty stellar on this. I like the transition, during the pre-chorus. The production as a whole on this one is very well done. There isn’t too much going on in this one. The production pretty much stays the same with the exemption of the bridge. I like it.8.5/10

2.Savage-Like their other title tracks. This one follows a similar trend of many production switches. I happen to love it. The production doesn’t seem messy to me. It works for me. Their vocals are insane in this one. The best I heard from them vocally. I am not the biggest fan of SM artists rapping style, exception NCT, but they make the rapping parts work. The switches from a synth pop to a more hip hop influence style is quite interesting. This can be hit or miss. It is a hit for me. I love their style.9/10

3.I’ll Make You Cry-Love the synth sounds. The mixture of the bass and synth sounds make a great sound. The chorus is the highlight for me. It makes me enjoy the song much more. The verses aren’t quite as exciting, which makes sense.8/10

4.YEPPI YEPPI-I don’t find the verses that interesting to me. What catches my attention is the addictive chorus. I really like the 80’s synth pop influenced chorus. It is so catchy. It is very ear candy. The song is a bit messy in some parts, but it doesn’t matter with that amazing chorus. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the chorus I wouldn’t like this song as much. The other parts of the song don’t interest me that much. The chorus makes this song so catchy.8.5/10

5.ICONIC-Once again, not feeling the verses, don’t really care for the chorus either, but the pre-chorus is really nice. I actually liked this song much more first couple of listens, but my liking for this song is fading now that I am actually paying attention to the song for the review.7.5/10

6.Lucid Dream-The song is pretty simple production wise for SM standards, but nothing wrong with that. I like this style. The production is still interesting. The production and vocals are pretty. Nothing great, but not bad. Middle of the road song. I like it.8/10

I really enjoyed listening to this album. The songs are all good. I can definitely see myself listening to most of these on repeat. I think a couple will get old after awhile, but that happens. I thought the album was good. A nice mix of songs.

Kpop Comeback Ranking of 2021

Here I will rank and discuss the popular comebacks so far this year. I will also add some comebacks that weren’t as popular, but that I found to be awesome and should have been popular. I will not add BTS’ Butter or Rose’s On the Ground, since I consider them pop tracks, since they are in English. I will say both are bops, and are definitely two of my favorite songs this year. I will add them to my general song section on my music blog. Anyway lets start.

23.What Type of X-Jessi I am not feeling this as much as Nunu Nana. I like the switch of sound to a more rock style, but I don’t care for the sound my self.

22.Bambi-Baekhyun I will miss new music from him for a bit. This was his farewell comeback. I wish I would have liked this song and album more, but just wasn’t feeling this.

21.Odd Eye-Dreamcatcher This song has some catchy parts, the chorus is pretty catchy, but for some reason I can’t get into Kpop songs with heavy elements of rock. Scream is still my favorite from them.

20.Lilac-IU Cute song. I like the 80’s sound in the production. This song is just okay to me, doesn’t do much for me.

19.Tail-Sumni I like the production of this song. I can’t really get in to this song, besides that.

18.Bicycle-Chungha I like the groove of this song. It has a nice rhythmic vibe. This song isn’t something I can continue to listen to on repeat. This one doesn’t have that spark, like Gotta Go and Snapping.

17.Dun Dun Dance-Oh My Girl This sing is cute, fun and light. I don’t know if this has a hold on me, like Nonstop did. This could be a grower.

16.After School-Weeekly I can get the hype of this song. The chorus is pretty catchy. I haven’t got into the hype, but this could grow on me.

15.Fireworks-Ateez I liked this song for about two weeks, but it got old. I hope they go back to lighter songs in the future. I miss Wave type songs from them. I like their hardcore stuff, but I need something new from them.

14.ASAP-Stayc The production is pretty cool. I like this song, but this is another one that got kind of old. It isn’t a song I can continue to listen to on repeat afterawhile.

13.My Treasure-Treasure Cute song. Definitely my favorite comeback, since Boy, but still none of their songs is on the level of Boy for me. I like this, but not a song I can repeatedly bop to. I got bored of this after awhile.

12.Drunk-Dazed-Enhypen Fun song, nothing great, but I do enjoy listening to this.

11.Hot Sauce-NCT Dream This sing is so fun to listen to. The production is pretty dope. Still doesn’t top Boom for me, but I prefer it to Ridin.

10.Celebrity-IU This is a song that has grown on me. I am really starting to get the appeal now. I really like the production on this song, and her voice is so nice to listen to.

9.Don’t Call Me-SHINee Okay, another song that has grown on me. I am happy to see them gain attention again with this song. The album is pretty dope as well.

8.Paranoia-Kang Daniel I liked this sing at first, lost interest, and then fell in love with it recently. I am really enjoying this song at the moment. This man has really grown as an artist, and experiments with different sounds. He has become one of my favorite male artists.

7.Unnatural-WJSN Really digging this song lately. I have this song on repeat. This is so enjoyable to listen to. I am still not tired of it. That transition in the chorus is really catchy.

6.HWAA-(G)i-dle My favorite track from them. I feel like this song should be bigger than it is for how popular they are. Anyway, this song still has my attention, even being released earlier this year. One of their best comebacks, if not, best.

5.Scared-P1harmony-Not a popular song, but it should be. The production us crazy good, and their vocals are nice to hear. Please give this a listen!

4.Cinema-Cix I can still listen to this like I am hearing it for the first time. The melodic sound is so refreshing. The song is just so good to me.

3.Next Level-Aespa I don’t normally like crazy sound switches in songs, but they make it work. The production is really dope as well. I like the unique sound of this. You don’t hear many songs like this.

2.I’m Not Cool-Hyuna She killed it with this song. I don’t think this will ever get old. This song is my style. Upbeat, dance type song. I just want to dance listening to this song. I love these type of songs.

1.In The Morning-ITZY I really shouldn’t like this song. It isn’t even my style of production. I honestly don’t like productions like this, but somehow Itzy makes me love it. This just fits perfectly with them. I don’t know why I love this song so much, but I do. This is now my favorite track from them. I think I like it, because it is different from other songs in Kpop now, so it stands out for me.

It was fun looking back on some of these songs, and also enjoying some new songs to add to my playlist. There hasn’t been many impressive comebacks for me this year, which is why I haven’t posted my favorite comebacks in awhile, but looking forward to future comebacks this year, especially my Ults Tomorrow X Together!

New Kpop Songs Ranking of November

I have to say, this month of new releases didn’t impress me that much looking back, but there were some good ones. Lets take a look at my top 20. I will start with the ones that impressed me the least to the ones that impressed me the most.

20.MMM Treasure Their weakest title track. This song ain’t it for me. They started so strong with Boy, but releases have gotten weaker, since then. I just can’t get into this song. The song is pretty mediocre.5/10

19.Teddy Bear Natty This song doesn’t really do anything for me. The chorus is a bit catchy, but not enough for me to really like this. Nothing special or exciting about this song.5/10

18.Breath Got 7 This sound suits my style. Light and upbeat, but for some reason can’t get into it. The song is pretty simple and straightforward, a bit forgettable for me. I feel nothing when I listen to this track. This song isn’t doing it for me.6/10

17.Salute AB6IX This song has a bit more excitement, than the songs above. I still think this song should be more exciting. The song is underwhelming. The anthem sound of the chorus is pretty cool, but this song as a whole does nothing for me. It is missing that extra umph.6/10

16.So bad STAYC I like the chorus, it is pretty catchy, but don’t care for the song as a whole. The production has its moments. This song isn’t for me though. I did enjoy listening to it, but not a song I can have on repeat.6/10

15.Ready or Not Momoland Exciting song, but it does nothing for me, sorry. I did enjoy listening to it, but most likely won’t listen to it again. Haven’t liked something from them, since Baam.6/10

14.Bad Girl Woo!ah They got some nice vocalist in the group. I like their vocals. Why does this song give me California Girls vibes? This isn’t bad, but not really feeling this song. This song does not pull me in, I do like the chorus a bit though, but that is it.6/10

13.Wings Super Junior D&E This song is enjoyable to listen to. The production is pretty. The song is really sweet and cute. I get a nice feeling listening to this. I won’t most likely listen to this again, but I did enjoy listening to it.7/10

12.AYA MAMAMOO This song has a nice rhythmic vibe to it. The production is pretty. This song doesn’t really excite me. The ending is quite interesting though, wasn’t expecting that. Not my favorite release from them. I do like their vocals in this song. The vocals are nice. The song is nice. Nothing special about it for me though.7/10

11.Mago Gfriend Going with the retro sound like many others, not mad at it. This may be my favorite release from them. The production is pretty. It is nice to listen to, but not a song I will listen to on repeat. It doesn’t grab my attention that much. I am not really that into them as a group.7.5/10

10.Love Killa Monsta X This song is catchy. It fits their style of music. I don’t love it, but not too bad. I haven’t really been interested in the Kpop comebacks as much lately unfortunately. It just seems their sound sounds similar. I need something fresh from them.7/10

9.Got That Boom Secret Number This got a 90’s club vibe to it. This is quite catchy. This song could grow on me. The pre-chorus is really nice. I really like the chorus, definitely the highlight for me.7.5/10

8.90’s love NCT U I do like the 90’s vibe of this song, hence the title, but nothing I haven’t heard before. This track doesn’t do much for me. I prefer Make A Wish.7/10

7.Idea Taemin I like the production on this one. I like the dissonance of the light and darker sounds of the production. This song has a cool experimental sound to it. I respect the song, not sure it is something I can listen to repeatedly, but that could change.8/10

6.HWA CL That beat drop in this song is dope. I can vibe to this one. I can see this song being played at a club. I can definitely bop to this. I like this. I really like the beat to this song. The chorus is really catchy.8/10

5.Gotcha Park Jihoon I like the production of this song. This song is fun to listen to. I feel like dancing when I listen to this one. I still prefer 360, but this is a close second.8/10

4.Forbidden Island Ha Sungwoon I like this one, nice production. Love his voice. The chorus is really catchy. I enjoy listening to this one.8/10

3.Work It NCT U I like the production of this song. The chorus is really catchy and I love the beat. It gives me dance club vibes. This is a good dance song. Not their best work, but not bad.8/10

2.Life Goes On BTS I didn’t love this at first, but it has grown on me. This is a nice sweet song. I enjoy listening to this. A nice calming warm song. I like it. It puts a smile on my face listening to it. A good song to listen and relax to.8.5/10

1.Black Mamba Aespa This song is so good. My favorite debut, since B.A.P’s Warrior. The production is stellar. The video is brilliant. Vocals on point. The song is very catchy. Great song.9/10
